Tacoma: Public utility chief seems overpaid
Re: “Maybe $330K a year isn’t enough for Tacoma’s new utility chief,” (Bill Virgin column, TNT, 6/17).
I wonder how many people reading the paper noticed the salary disparity between the new heads of Tacoma Public Utilities and the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife.
TPU’s director will make twice as much, while WDFW’s director oversees one third more employees and does vastly more varied types of work across the entire state.
Seems hard to justify. In this context, I think Bill Virgin got it wrong.
