Immigration: What problem is Trump trying to solve?

Somewhat lost in all the debate about immigrants from Mexico is the question of exactly what problem the Trump administration is trying to solve.

The number of undocumented immigrants from Mexico peaked about 2007 and has slightly declined ever since.

Today, the purported “flood of immigrants” from Mexico is actually a small flow the other way. This “problem” was solved eleven years ago!

Also, considering that the economy has grown steadily for the last nine years, it’s apparent that the current number of undocumented immigrants in the U.S. is not negatively impacting the economy.

If you believe the right answer is to expel all undocumented immigrants, I refer you to Q-13’s recent report on the extreme problems Washington farmers are having finding workers this year.

Simply put, the “Mexican immigration crisis” is a fiction concocted strictly for political purposes, and the policies of the Trump administration are negatively impacting the very people the president promised he would help.

There is no legitimate rationale for Trump’s immigration policies. Stop the madness.
