Restaurant: Political litmus test hard to swallow
I am one of those who absolutely hates all that Donald Trump and his administration stand for and have done throughout his presidency.
I also have found recent conduct by certain businesses to be appalling, such as those refusing to make cakes or furnish flowers for same sex marriages, or a coffee shop calling police to have two black gentlemen removed because they hadn’t bought anything.
But I find the actions of the Red Hen Restaurant owner in Lexington, Virginia, to be just as appalling. Refusing to serve someone because their political beliefs are different than yours is discrimination and, in my opinion, illegal.
Sometimes the hardest part of being an American is disagreeing with what someone else believes, but defending their rights to believe it.
