Bridge closure: It could hurt Tacoma’s bottom line
Re: “Another Tacoma bridge is closing for a long stretch,” (TNT, 7/2).
It is already difficult to get to Tacoma from the north with the Puyallup River bridge closure.
Now the 11th Street bridge is closing, leaving only two ways to get to Tacoma: I-5 southbound, which everyone knows is a giant traffic nightmare through Fife, and Route 509, which has become increasingly busy.
I did shop a lot in Tacoma, but for the remainder of the summer and fall, I’m going to shop in Federal Way and points north until these projects are done.
Sorry, Tacoma Rainiers, that means I’ll miss those great summer night games.
