White supremacy: Movement rears ugly head in Tacoma

Re: “White Supremacist posters plastered in downtown Tacoma,” (TNT, 7/3).

On July 1, The Patriot Front (a racist, anti-Semitic white supremacist group), plastered downtown and the Dome District with anti-immigrant posters.

The posters encourage us to “keep America American.”

As a country built on waves immigration, it’s hard to imagine anything more American than those who come here seeking to better their lives.

These messages do not represent the Tacoma community I know. However, we must strongly reject and quickly guard against them taking root.

White supremacy is here, even if we don’t want to admit it. Any silence and lack of action signals that we condone this activity, at the expense of the community.

I commit to loudly opposing it.
