Immigrants: Welcome, as long as you assimilate

My daughter recently asked me my thoughts on immigration. Legal immigration is of course a no brainier. After all, this country was founded by immigrants.

As for a wall at the Mexican border, even Hadrian’s Wall during the Roman empire wasn’t completely successful.

But what really burns my butt is the way the public school system bends over backward to preserve the culture of immigrant children.

Immigrants of the 19th and early 20th century weren’t concerned about saving their culture. They did everything possible to assimilate to the American way of life and become naturalized citizens.

Today’s immigrants should be doing the same.
