Political flyer: Purveyors owe two women apology

If the Washington Leadership Council had any humanity among its members, they would individually and wholeheartedly apologize to Tarra Simmons and state Senate candidate Emily Randall for their haphazardly slanderous mailer that they sent out recently. tinyurl.com/Political-Flyer

While I have several issues with the mailer — namely, the misogynistic use of a woman’s anger to discredit her and the double standard of calling Randall inexperienced when her Republican opponent also has no elected experience — the use of Simmons’ personal story as a means to discredit a strong and capable candidate is unheard of and uncalled for.

Simmons’ story is one of depression and drug abuse followed by a long and arduous process to put her past behind her to better her life.

It is my dear hope that this campaign falls flat on its face and only calls attention to Randall’s grace and compassion in contrast to her opponent and his supporters.
