Democracy: What I learned in high school

Democracy is not free.

United we stand as a nation against adversaries, foreign invasion, and intolerance and discrimination within our borders.

Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

As one is educated and informed, one can make choices regarding friends, careers and how to obey the law of the land.

When one gets older, time goes faster. Of course, time is relative, and one’s perspective changes with time.

If I had a view of the past and the future, I would feel assured that we as a nation will survive and prosper with our values and integrity intact.

In a democracy, one can become a candidate for office, offer an initiative for consideration or speculate from the sideline.

Ultimately everyone has a choice in decisions to further our democracy.
