Environment: Two positives amid summer smoke
It’s easy to get discouraged with the hot temperatures, no rain, and hard-to-breathe air quality this summer. But here’s two positives to focus on.
First, be thankful that the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency (PSCAA) saw fit to expand its look at the environmental impacts of the proposed liquefied natural gas facility at the Port of Tacoma to include impacts from "fracked" gas.
I’m from western Pennsylvania and I’ve seen the horrible devastation of fracking on the beloved Allegheny National Forest -- damage to the land, water and air.
That’s why I feel it’s critical that we express our concerns on this proposed LNG facility. The public comment period on the PSCAA’s Supplemental Impact Statement begins Oct. 1. So let your voice be heard and submit your comments.
Second, I’m pleased that 350 Tacoma, along with Sierra Club, the Puyallup Tribe and many others, will host the Peoples Climate Movement at Tollefson Plaza, Tacoma, on Sept. 8 at 9 a.m.
Be there and support our Earth!
