Fire season: Museum should stop pyrotechnics

Recent days and weeks have been record-breaking times of heat and wildfires. There has been much destruction and loss, affecting nature and humans.

I find it reckless and thoughtless that the LeMay car museum still closes its events with a fireworks display. For any other citizen this is illegal and rightfully so.

There must be other ways to close an event — such as lights, music, even bubbles. I believe permits to fire off pyrotechnics should have restrictions, just like citizens who can’t use barbecues and campfires.

I live upwind from the museum and there is dry vegetation along the freeway behind them. What if a fireworks cinder caught a draft of air and ignited grasses nearby?

Maybe other citizens and the fire marshal can join me in requesting they cease the fireworks in record dry spells.
