Kavanaugh: Dems’ search-and-destroy mission
Getting conservative, constitution-based judges on the Supreme Court is a major reason that I held my nose and voted for Donald Trump.
Any liberal would prefer more liberal judges. This explains our partisan positions. It does not, however, excuse pursuing them at any and all costs.
Sen. Lindsey Graham believes Brett Kavanaugh is innocent. He was morally outraged because he knows that Sen. Diane Feinstein caused both parties to suffer needlessly when she could have spared them both the public trauma by pursuing this quietly in the two months prior to the hearing.
The Democrats’ hope was to delay it until they might gain a majority in the Senate, which would make it possible for them to block any other appointment by President Trump.
An understandable goal but an unacceptable price.
Dems argue they were honoring Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s wish to avoid public scrutiny, knowing full well that they were doing just the opposite.
The Dems played to their audience by demanding the FBI investigation that they could have easily requested prior to the hearing while knowing Kavanaugh’s supporters would feel compelled to resist any effort to delay confirmation.
Well played if your goal is to win at any and all costs.
