Kavanaugh: Both parties deserve blame
I would not confirm Brett Kavanaugh, not for what might have happened 36 years ago, but because he is soft on the 4th Amendment and because he did not show a judicial temperament during the hearings.
At the same time, and for this time only, I fault the Democrats for turning the process into a circus.
From the surreptitious and rather despicable way that Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s letter became public to the death threats made against Republican senators, the Democrats brought the confirmation process to a new low.
That isn’t to let the Republicans off the hook. They established (or continued) a history of dirty tricks regarding judicial candidates during the Obama administration, and it is not surprising the Democrats fought back this time.
Both major parties have demonstrated their inability to govern, demonizing each other while the rest of us watch in horror.
If America is ever going to become great again, it needs to get back to basics: Love your neighbor, respect his/her property and promote liberty of conscience.
