School bond: All Peninsula kids deserve positive start

Children belong in safe, quality environments, and that includes their schools.

I have no children, but the value of education is deeply rooted in my family history. I taught third and fourth grades in a poor district where the classrooms were overcrowded and in need of repair.

More than once a bucket sat in the middle of the room to catch leaks!

No matter what students pursue after graduating, whether the trades, technology, business, medicine or any other field, they deserve a positive start at school.

I believe we are a community that cares for our kids. But when I moved to the Artondale area in 2012, I was surprised at the condition of our schools.
