Air safety: Senator should point finger at herself, too

Re: “Boeing crashes show meeting checklists isn’t good enough,” (Maria Cantwell column, TNT, 11/24).

It has been reported that Washington Senator Cantwell sponsored legislation that gave Boeing more control over its own certification process and limited the role of the FAA.

It is the height of hypocrisy for her to now jump on this anti-Boeing, anti-FAA bandwagon without admitting and apologizing for her role in the failed certification process for the 737 Max.

We certainly do need corrective legislation, but do we trust her to do that, given her past role? Beware of politicians who don’t take responsibility for their actions.
