Trump: Ukraine corruption explanation doesn’t hold up

Ukraine’s old regime was considered corrupt. Despite that, the US gave them around $300 million per year in military aid from 2014-2018.

President Trump did not hold up the military assistance in 2017 and 2018 because they were corrupt.

In 2019 Ukraine elected a new president who was committed to reform the corruption. On May 23, Trump met with several aides, two of whom testified under oath about the meeting. They told Trump the new president was reforming the corruption and deserved our military aid.

But Trump held up the aid for four months. Only in September when the whistleblower complained about Trump’s demands did Trump release the aid.

So for two years he OK’d military aid to the corrupt government, then in 2019 he held it back from the reform president who was cleaning up corruption.

Why? You know the answer. To get dirt on Biden.

This is so simple to figure out. And it shows how corrupt this president and his defenders in Congress have become.
