Democrats: Don’t tell us how to vote, George
Re: “Democrats may yet go for vanilla in 2020,” (TNT, 1/3).
Over many years, columnist George F. Will dazzled the public with clever verbiage and highbrow anti-government pontifications.
The contemporary Republican Party that Will now disavows was built by him, and others like him.
Where did he think all his rhetoric would lead, if not some version of the Tea Party? And the Tea Party is what brought us the Trump Party!
Now Will spends his evenings on cable news bashing the party he helped create and writing columns telling Democrats how they too can become anti-government hacks.
We don’t need your advice, George. You see, we actually care about the common good: well maintained roads, good schools for all our children, quality healthcare and livable wage jobs for all, and a safe and clean environment for future generations.
Yes, that requires taxes. And yes, corporations and multimillionaires making fortunes off the backs of others should pay more.
Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren have tremendous support because they serve the common good, not wealthy donors. They follow the Democratic Party platform, which Will should read before telling Democrats how to vote.
