Iran: Drone strike merely Trump’s latest ‘shiny ball’

Re: “Trump fends off questions over growing Iran conflict,” (TNT, 1/8).

Throughout his presidency, Donald Trump has repeatedly used shiny balls to distract the media and public opinion when he is getting adverse headlines.

He took this strategy to a new extreme last week. Faced with impeachment headlines in every newspaper, he ordered the murder of Maj. General Qassim Suleimani without any viable justification.

It worked! Iran retaliated in limited fashion, and the headlines focused on foreign policy. As they refocus on impeachment, it is ominous to speculate what Trump will do next to distract the media with a shiny ball.
