Bidens: They’d be miscast as impeachment witnesses
Re: “Why was Biden allowed to skate?” (TNT letter, 1/3).
What does investigating the Bidens’ alleged actions have to do with the impeachment of the current president for his alleged actions?
I am not defending Joe nor Hunter Biden; nor am I prosecuting the president for his alleged actions. I’m merely questioning the reasoning used to justify bringing the Bidens into the impeachment process.
If Joe Biden committed an impeachable act, he should have been impeached or at least investigated for it. However, he and his son had nothing to do with the actions of President Trump’s alleged, ill-advised attempt to bribe the Ukrainian president.
If Joe and Hunter are to be investigated, it should be done on the demerits of their own actions. Neither Biden was there to witness any of the communications with President Zelensky. They were not witnesses to Trump’s defiance of congressional subpoenas. So what would they testify about?
Using Joe Biden’s alleged misdeeds to justify those of Trump is tantamount to saying “two wrongs makes a right.”
