Israel: Giving up something is path to peace

Because of the Holocaust and Christian prophecies, Israel can do no wrong in the eyes of many Americans.

President Trump takes advantage of this support when he tries to goad Iran into war – a war that Israel eagerly wants. Turning Iran into a failed state would make its goal of a Greater Israel more likely.

If Israel settled with the Palestinians, it would have no problems with Iran. However, since Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s base includes Jewish settlers of the West Bank, his dreams don’t include the Palestinians as citizens of a Greater Israel.

Since these sorts of dreams are not realizable, terrorism and counterterrorism are the order of the day. This will continue until Israel, herself, is a failed state and Jewish history is repeated in nightmarish dimensions.

A better course is to settle with the Palestinians and make peace with Iran. Offering to give up something in exchange for a better nuclear deal with Iran is the place for Israel and America to start.
