American division: Will we escape our echo chambers?
It is not the presidency any more that constitutes the biggest threat to our country. It is the deep divisiveness we experience currently. Yes, a divisiveness fueled by the current White House, but brought about to a great degree by putting party loyalty over principle.
We are so divided, and it’s reflected in our media habits. One part of the population listens only to CBS, NPR, NSNBC etc., and the other swears by Fox News etc.
The two sides do not talk with one another any more, rather they denigrate each other. Who of us can have a rational debate with the other side? We all live in our echo chambers.
All this division, of course, is a boon to those who wish us harm. It can be manipulated and exploited. How Vladimir Putin and our other foes must revel in seeing this deep division here.
Well, as the saying goes: United we stand, divided we fall.
