Social democracy: Logical backlash against moneyed interests

“Socialism: Political disease spreads wildly,” (TNT letter, 2/2).

There is very good reason for support for social democracy among Gen Xers and a multitude of others.

The Citizens United decision, GOP tax cuts for the wealthy and recent revocations of protections for the environment, just to name a few, totally stack the deck in favor of moneyed interests and against middle-class Americans, future voters and the general welfare of the nation.

The crude use of inflammatory language and inaccurate comparisons of Nazism to social democracy only serves to expose a woeful lack of desire for serious and mature debate.

Incidentally, social democracy (notably Social Security) has been alive and well in America for generations.
