Soldiers: Trump wrongly underplays head injuries

The US Army has revealed the introduction of another life-saving technique on the battlefield: direct whole-blood transfusions, even while service members are under fire. Volunteer donors with O-negative blood and low antibodies are pre-screened for just such emergencies.

Meanwhile, their commander in chief, who avoided the draft because of his bone spurs, recently dismissed as “headaches” the brain injuries suffered by dozens of soldiers in Iraq during an Iranian rocket attack.

Our wounded heroes, including many thousands of veterans who will suffer from traumatic brain injuries for the rest of their lives, deserve better. From the president and us.
