Sanders: News media not giving candidate his due
Re: “Sanders’ NH win puts pressure on moderates to coalesce,” (TNT, 2/13).
The TNT fear-mongering and bias against Sen. Bernie Sanders are blatant. First, an AP “analysis” piece, full of erroneous and unsubstantiated claims, was given front page placement.
Contrary to “questions about his ability to broaden his coalition,” Sanders has been the key candidate inspiring young people and registering previously disenfranchised voters.
Another quote claims the “majority of Democrats do not want Bernie Sanders.” Obviously at this point a majority of Democrats haven’t identified any one candidate they want. But after the first two primaries, Sanders is the frontrunner.
When asked for their second choice, the top candidate chosen by Biden supporters was Sanders, belying manufactured theories about who “moderates” support.
The claim that “some in the party are fearful he would struggle to defeat President Donald Trump” flies in the face of recent head-to-head polls showing Sanders as one of two top candidates likely to defeat Trump.
The next day came another fear-mongering article (“Moderate Democrats fear Sanders could cost them US House,”) plus an anti-Sanders op-ed page cartoon.
What about how Sanders is systematically disparaged and discounted by the media? Where is that article?
