Democrats: Bernie motivates new and diverse voters

Donald Trump’s administration is the most criminal and dangerous in America’s history. Never have the stakes been higher to re-establish our international prestige and the rule of law.

Therefore the biggest question for Democrats this primary season is: Who can win in November?

Bernie Sanders is that candidate for several reasons. First, his campaign will significantly drive up voter turnout, as we have seen in the recent primary races.

Over 46% of eligible voters did not participate in the 2016 election. Having a candidate at the top of the ticket who motivates new and infrequent voters to participate is essential to victory.

Second, Sanders is the only leading Democrat with a racially diverse coalition of voters, as proven by recent exit polls. No Democrat can win nationally without giving Black, Latino, Asian and Native voters a reason to participate.

Finally, history shows the best cure for racist fake populism like Trump’s is real economic populism. Sanders’ message of inclusivity, hope and caring for the stranger are the garlic to Trump’s authoritarian vampirism.

Bernie Sanders isn’t simply a great guy with wonderful values. He’s our best shot at beating Trump.
