Coronavirus: Kids like me still need school
Re: “Three more Tacoma schools to close after positive coronavirus results,” (TNT, 3/9).
I read this article and was pleased to hear about public schools taking action with the coronavirus. It has spread very quickly, though I believe schools should not be closed for long.
The majority of those with severe cases already have medical history and the fatality rate is low. Schools should only be closed one day for cleaning and those who already have medical problems should stay home or quarantined.
I also think that the schools should release more information on those infected and be permitted to do so by the Pierce County Health Department. This could help with anxiety felt by the public and reduce panic.
We need to know how many were tested positive, whether a teacher or student, and how it had gotten to the school.
I hope that the cleaning of these schools is thorough, allowing kids to continue their studies.
