Medicine: Hoarding hurts patients like me

This morning my pharmacy informed me that they cannot refill my prescription for hydroxychloroquine because there is worldwide hoarding due to the president’s uninformed promotion of the drug as a cure for COVID-19.

What can it hurt, he keeps asking. Well, it hurts me and tens of thousands of other lupus patients who rely on the drug to control the disease. So he can add all of us to the damage his reckless disregard for science and expertise has caused the people of the country. And he can add billions to the bank accounts of his pharma friends at our expense.

Donald Trump has not made us great. He has made us small, ignorant, sick and poor.
