Face masks: Require them for retail workers, shoppers

I went to my regional Target store in Tacoma the other day and became very angry. Three-fourths of the shoppers were not wearing masks and I saw no cleaning of floors or wiping down of carts.

I spoke with two workers who are very concerned for their health and that of their family members. I also spoke with a woman whose friend caught COVID-19 from going grocery shopping at her local store; she’d been home isolated for weeks.

Wear your masks when shopping, because if you don’t you are part of the problem. Tens of thousands of Americans have already died.

Support our local grocery workers; join Target Workers United and SEIU online to get updates on how you can do more.

Our elected officials have a responsibility to pass safety laws requiring all workers be provided with masks and gloves, and customers be required to wear masks in stores during a pandemic.
