Generosity: Pro athlete sets great example

Re: “Tacoma’s Isaiah Thomas donating meals to UW Medical Center,” (TNT, 4/9).

In tune with America’s finest motivations, sharing our goodwill with others, I am humbled by the thoughtful gift of pizza for all employees of local medical facilities by one of the finest athletes ever to come out of our community.

Through their generosity, Thomas and his family encourage all of us to consider others besides ourselves.

Our failing to pay attention to the needs of others can be attributed to our busy preoccupation with life’s responsibilities. Often this blocks the mobilization of our deeper humane natures.

It takes big gestures like that of the Thomas family to encourage us once again to recognize our best selves on a more regular basis.
