Wealth gap: Will courageous leaders rise to challenge?

Re: “Documentary explores global economy and the inequality it has spawned,” (TNT 5/15).

An example of what is purported in the documentary is the fact that the three richest people in the world are wealthier than the 48 poorest nations combined.

At least two of our presidents have opined on similar subjects. FDR stated “the hopes of the Republic cannot forever tolerate either undeserved poverty or self-serving wealth.” Andrew Jackson declared: “It is to be regretted that the rich and powerful too often bend the acts of government to their selfish purposes.”

What we need now are leaders in government who recognize these problems and have courage to make changes that alleviate them.
