George Floyd: American dream lost to nightmares
“Swift police firings don’t quell outrage,” (TNT, 5/28).
We as a nation should be more than outraged at what happened in Minneapolis. Yes, the mayor did the first right thing in firing the officers involved in the death of George Floyd, but more should follow.
If this doesn’t warrant the citizens of this country (no matter party affiliation) to be disgusted and outraged, then what will?
I’m almost 63 years old and this is not the country I envisioned growing up. (As an Italian/American, Caucasian, by the way.)
President John Kennedy and his brother Robert were moving this country in a direction we could have been proud of; instead, in 2020, we’re dealing with police outright murdering people.
Martin Luther King had a dream; instead today all we have is a nightmare! It’s my hope that those officers are tried and convicted of murder.
I’m not proud to be an American. I wonder if I ever will be again.
