Reopening: Don’t exclude seniors from gyms

“New state guidelines favorable for Pierce County’s move into Phase 2 of COVID-19 recovery plan,” (TNT, 5/29).

You will find many ways to have a good time at the gym, as long as you are under the age of 65.

Heartbreakingly, 13.8% of Pierce County residents won’t be included in what was triumphantly announced Friday as a potential move into Phase 2.

A limited reopening of finess/recreation facilities (small classes and one-on-one sessions with personal trainers) is allowed in Phase 2. But the governor’s safety guidelines exclude “high risk clients” including “people over the age of 65.”

Let’s not limit personal freedom based solely on being born prior to 1955.
