Protest zone: Big news in Seattle glossed over
“Seattle area occupied by protesters is ‘no cop-free zone’ says police chief,” (TNT, 6/17).
The silence has been deafening. It has been a week since Seattle police were ordered to abandon their East Precinct Station, and demonstrators subsequently took control over an area of Capitol Hill in downtown Seattle.
Yet, we have heard or read remarkably little about this stunning event from Seattle’s mayor, Washington’s governor or our own print newspaper, the TNT.
The “Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone,” now “ Capitol Hill Occupied Protest,” reportedly has claimed authority over more than several city blocks.
The TNT has now published a relevant article by the Associated Press. However, it was incredibly anemic regarding details.
What about gun-toting protestors? Demands? Damages? Anarchists, Socialists, and LGBTQ promoters co-opting Black Lives Matter? Seattle City Council member Kshama Savant’s support?
The list goes on and on.
If a far-right radical group were involved, would there not have been an uproar from politicians and the TNT?
