Anthem protest: War enemies not only threat to America
Re: “Anthem protest: I shed blood for this flag,” (TNT letter, 6/18).
The letter writer wonders why the NFL players can’t just play football. To his credit, he served in the Korean War and Vietnam War.
When he felt his nation was threatened, he did not just play football, he stepped up at considerable personal cost and risk to serve his nation.
Colin Kaepernick, along with many of the rest of us, feel the nation’s future is threatened by our inability to deal with endemic racism.
Why should Kaepernick be required to just play football instead of standing up in the best way he knows for the good of our nation?
