Virus spread: Trump can’t prevent our stupidity

There are many critics of President Trump’s coronavirus response plan. Really? Who had any better plan?

To be clear, the responsibility rests with us, not him. He can’t prevent our stupidity.

Trump didn’t bring the recent resurgence to record levels of illness; we did! Partying, protesting, entire families shopping and socializing without masks and other rebellious behaviors we cherish as rights caused the current spike.

Trump can send money, beds and masks. He can’t stop us from ignoring proven methods for containing virus transmission. That’s on us.

Also, total cases tells us little. We should focus on data like mortality per confirmed case. As we find more cases and learn more about treating those infected, our mortality rate comes down.

Lastly, the Chinese government has not been forthright. How many Chinese really died? How many could have been saved? We’ll never know because they stopped reporting and helping.

Now they are allowing WHO scientists to investigate how it originally transmitted to humans. Twelve million infections and half a million deaths later they finally want to help.

Where is our outrage over their behavior?
