Virus: Wartime president now wants to surrender

With 5 percent of the world population, the US has 25 percent of the cases and deaths from COVID-19. Many countries have fought to control the virus.

From the onset, President Trump has downplayed the virus, saying that it would disappear. He contradicted scientific and medical experts including his own Coronavirus Task Force and CDC.

As the cases grew into a pandemic, he declared he would become a wartime president. He repeatedly stated that his administration was doing a great job. Instead of having a national strategy, he turn to governors to find solutions.

The curve began to level off and start down. “Stay at Home” and other CDC recommendations were working, but not fast enough for Trump. He pushed for the nation to open up, going against CDC policies.

Now cases are rising at record rates. Again we are faced with inadequate testing and shortages of PPE’s. With his poll numbers falling, Trump and his administration have a new strategy, declaring that the virus is here and Just Live With It.

This is a complete failure of leadership. The wartime president has raised the white flag.
