Masks: Late-arriving Trump gets no do overs

President Trump’s intransigence on the issue of mask wearing and his late support of them should have been a clear warning to everyone, especially considering the early, wide support for them throughout the medical community.

If he had gotten on board with this issue earlier and modeled the use of them, untold lives may have been saved.

I’m mystified by his actions, again, and can only surmise he had ulterior motives. His rebellious behavior certainly inflamed his base to follow his example and probably cost some of them their lives.

Trump finally said in a briefing that masks “have an impact.” What took so long?

I want my president and congressmen/senators to err on the side of safety, especially considering the gravity of and dire consequences to the American people. It’s a small price to pay.

Sometimes in life we get only one chance to get it right; sadly no do overs on this one.

Remember that this fall when voting. We need serious, thoughtful representatives. It’s a matter of life and death.
