Republicans: I’m giving up voting for them in 2020

The voter’s pamphlet and ballot are on the table before me.

In previous elections, I carefully read each candidate’s entry focusing on their history, education, experience, community involvement and statement (what it says and how it’s written). Based upon what I have learned about each candidate I made my choice.

Political affiliation didn’t matter. Until now.

This election I will not be voting for any Republican regardless of his or her qualifications.

Shame on those candidates who have embraced and promoted Donald Trump. Shame on those who might be appalled at Trump’s words and actions but have chosen to say nothing and continue under the Republican banner. Silence equals complicity.

Only when Republicans begin showing backbone and disown Trump and his like-minded entourage will I consider voting for Republican candidates again.

In the meantime I’ll continue learning about all the other candidates and carefully make my choice from that pool.
