Police: Responsible citizenship is needed, not ‘defunding’
A message to every citizen of my fair city of Tacoma, from the mayor to the last baby who was born here.
We all can learn from history. If we do not, we are doomed to repeat it.
Laws are not made by the police but by we citizens who have petitioned our local and state governments to bring a positive change to our community. Which one of us is perfect and therefore above the law? None of us are.
When there are no peace officers available when one of us loses control of our emotions and violates one of our laws, there will be chaos. Is that what we really want?
When someone is in need in our community, is it not our duty to seek a way to help fill that need? We have many great community service organizations that can help those of us in need to resolve our conflicts.
I want peace in my community and realize that it begins with me and the example that I set. Let us all set better examples.
