Higher education: Textbook prices daunting for students
In an article posted on the Student PIRG website called “Fixing the Broken Textbook Market,” high textbook prices are discussed in terms of their effects on college students.
As a college student, I can say that there have been times when I’ve had to decide between buying or not buying a textbook for a class because of price. That’s not a choice that I or other students should have to make.
Many college students are not able to afford pricey textbooks, especially under the circumstances our country is now facing.
In order for students to get the most from their education, it is extremely important that they have access to free textbooks and other educational tools, such as access codes for homework, which often makes up a significant portion of our grades.
Students advocate on this issue constantly, but we need more advocates on our side to help solve this ongoing problem.
