Historic church: Tacoma must rescue Holy Rosary

Re: “Tacoma Catholic parish with landmark church is ‘unviable,’” (TNT, 8/16).

I have only one request of the citizens of our city at this moment in history: Please don’t let Holy Rosary be torn down. It’s an iconic structure that has incredible historic significance in the context of Tacoma. To lose it would be tragic.

To the members of the Catholic community I ask them to continue to go to their Archbishop and plead with him to save this magnificent church. It will never again be replicated. It’s an architectural treasure.

Let’s all listen to preservation consultant Michael Sullivan and to a representative of the members of the church community, Jonathan Carp. They say restoration is absolutely possible.

As a community, let’s do everything possible to save Holy Rosary.

Bill G. Evans, Tacoma
