Election: President is more than a job description

When we cast a vote for our country’s chief executive this fall, let’s try to remember a president has to be more than just his job description.

He should have the qualities we desire in a responsible leader. He should be a man of good character. He should display intelligence, a steady temperament and sound judgment. He should be truthful.

He should be a good communicator, eloquent and articulate.

He should be of a compassionate nature, genuinely interested in the welfare of all people, not just citizens of the United States.

He should be civil, not given to denigrating those who express opposing views.

He should be able to think in a rational manner, with wisdom to consult experts and heed their advice.

And of course he would have deep respect for those who serve and honor their sacrifices.

A man who will always put America before his own interests, or those of his party.

In the end the man we elect should have our respect, and be someone we are proud to call our president – someone indeed worthy to lead the greatest country on earth.
