GOP: Moderates must fight Supreme Court travesty

Re: “Trump to Senate: Vote ‘without delay’ on his high court pick,” (TNT, 9/20).

This may not seem much of a threat since I am a Democrat; however, I am a moderate Democrat and often will vote for local Republicans who I consider to be doing a good job in a largely bipartisan way.

Currently I plan to vote for Secretary of State Kim Wyman and Pierce County Executive Bruce Dammeier. But they and others must immediately and publicly, from the bottom up, put pressure through the county and state Republican committees to stop the unfair and hypocritical move to push through a Supreme Court nominee.

Voting is my only way to influence the direction of my country. The actions of Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and the Senate Republicans betray the public trust.

Anyone in public service who does not take action to stop this travesty no longer deserves my vote. They will have affiliated themselves with an immoral organization.

I am not the only moderate who feels this way.
