Protests: Give athletes more latitude on helmets

Re: “For rookie Damien Lewis, protesting is personal,” (TNT, 9/18).

I am in favor of the Seattle Seahawks wearing names of people on their helmets that relate to injustices done to them or people close to them.

After reading Seahawk Damien Lewis’ account of the treatment that Andrew Sledd suffered, I was horrified. No person should ever be treated that cruelly.

I support our police, but some take the law into their own hands and that is not their place.

In the late 1950s, my father helped recruit Elgin Baylor and “Sweet” Charlie Brown to play basketball for Seattle University. We had their pictures on our den wall because they were good young men and great basketball players.

My dad always taught us that all lives matter, no matter the color of your skin.

We all know that Black people have been treated unjustly for years. It must end now!

The Seahawks bringing individual cases to the forefront should be supported.
