Supreme Court: Install woman of faith, promptly
“They couldn’t even wait until RBG was in her grave,” (TNT, 9/23).
As a religious person, I appreciated columnist Dana Milbank’s heartfelt remarks about Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Rosh Hashanah. I also agree that the current politicking and media hype is getting tiresome.
However, I would not describe a senator’s desire to fill a vacant Supreme Court position as “indecent” or “disgraceful.”
It will be four months before the next president is sworn in. Ginsburg was a practical person. I don’t think she’d expect the entire nation to sit shiva for four months.
Plenty of tributes have been made to Ginsburg, and I look forward to reading more about this exemplary woman. But the “cry of the oppressed” requires her seat to be filled.
What better way to honor her memory than to nominate and confirm another exemplary woman who is also a person of faith.
