Masks: Wearing them is different type of bravery
Seven months into lockdown and I continue to be disappointed in people pushing anti-mask rhetoric. Not surprised, just disappointed.
People are losing their lives and facing life-changing consequences because we as a nation cannot get this pandemic under control.
True cowardly behavior is not wearing a mask because you don’t believe enough people are dying for you to take this virus seriously, even though it was deadly enough to shut down the entire world.
Not to mention that COVID-19 disproportionately affects Black and Brown communities, which makes disregard for masks a form of racist discrimination.
The truly courageous mask up, obey and continue to have faith in social-distancing guidelines and the scientists who are tasked with keeping the public safe. In these unknown and changing times, that’s a different type of bravery.
