Presidential debate: Next time soundproof booths?
I chose not to watch last week’s presidential “debate” since I was pretty certain what was going to happen.
And what happened was that the American people were cheated out of an opportunity to hear what each candidate would actually do over the next four years.
I hold the Commission on Presidential Debates responsible. If I knew what was going to happen, they should have been smart enough to figure it out.
Unfortunately we’ve arrived at a place in politics that debates will need to include two (or more) small soundproof booths, one for each candidate. They can hear what’s being said, but once their speaking time is up, the audience can no longer hear them.
The questions should be specific to the problems we have as a nation and how they plan to address it. That’s what we deserve – answers, not bullying, intimidation tactics, name calling and interruptions.
I call on the CPD to step up and gain some control over this forum for the sake of the country, or give the job to someone who can.
