Congress election: Doglio fights for working people

Here in the 10th Congressional District, we have two choices: State Rep. Beth Doglio or former Tacoma Mayor Marilyn Strickland.

The election of either would result in firsts worth celebrating. Doglio would be Washington’s first openly LGBTQ congressperson. Strickland would be Washington’s first Black congressperson and the first Korean-American woman in Congress.

I support Doglio because she has fought for working people her entire career – in the Legislature, on picket lines and with community activists across the South Sound.

I admire a lot about Strickland. But now is not the time to elect someone who has worked on behalf of corporations her entire career, in the private sector, as mayor, and most recently as CEO of the powerful business lobby, the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce.

There’s too much at stake. One in five Washingtonians could face hunger by the end of the year. Corporations and billionaires are seeing profits skyrocket while paying little to nothing in taxes to support our communities.

Working families in the 10th District need a champion who will put them first.
