Lieutenant governor: Heck’s experience out of date

Re: “Inslee easy pick for governor; Heck best for lieutenant,” (TNT endorsement, 10/11).

Despite Gov. Jay Inslee’s repeated assurances that he will complete his term of office if re-elected, your best argument against Marko Liias for lieutenant governor is that you choose not to believe the governor.

You tout Denny Heck’s experience as a state legislator, but that ended in 1986 (34 years ago). You mention his time as a staff person in the governor’s office, but that ended in 1993 (27 years ago).

Liias is now, today, a leader in our state Senate with up-to-date knowledge and experience he will take with him into the role of Senate president, one of the primary roles of lieutenant governor.

Current experience in state government is the criteria we should pay attention to. Logically, Liias is the stronger candidate.
