Sheriff election: Familiar name not best choice
This election we will be voting for a new Pierce County sheriff . One candidate is Ed Troyer whose name most of you no doubt already know. He has been the sheriff’s public information officer for close to 20 years. It is not a supervisor nor a manager position.
The other candidate is Cyndie Fajardo who you may not know. She has spent most of her career as a supervisor or a manager. She was the Pierce County Sheriff’s Guild president and has their endorsement.
She has been a sergeant in patrol, a member of the Pierce County Search and Rescue Team as both a deputy and supervisor, a contract city chief of police, a precinct lieutenant and a lieutenant in special investigations.
When you cast your vote for sheriff, please don’t vote for someone because you recognize his name. Vote on management experience and what the person brings to the job.
Greg Stonack, Puyallup
(Stonack is a retired Pierce County Sheriff’s Department sergeant)
