Campaigns: Door to door GOP visits tempt fate

A lifetime Pierce County resident and 21-year employee of the Teamsters Union, I have taken steps to protect myself and others in the community during the pandemic.

Republican candidates in Puyallup are endangering community members by holding events like “Super Saturdays” where volunteers go door to door without masks. It is reckless and dangerous.

Democratic candidates are relying on phone banking and postcard writing, Zoom meetings and word of mouth to publicize their campaigns while Republicans are moving through the community as if COVID-19 hadn’t happened.

I will be voting for Jamie Smith for state representative because she genuinely cares about citizens and provides resources for those affected by the virus.

Joan Cronk, Puyallup
